We just got a brand new laptop – Asus ZenBook UX330C (UX330CAK / UX330CA-FC006T) Grey, 13.3″ FHD with English keyboard. It features Intel Core m3-y730 CPU, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system that can easily can be changed to Linux. Also, it features “harman/kardon” speakers with very good sound quality for a such small laptop. Oh, and it weights 1.2 kg.
This laptop has great keyboard (one row enter key, not cluttered arrow keys, home, end, PgUp, PgDn on the arrows with Fn key), but power button is made like regular key in the keyboard. Will need to find a way to remap Delete to Insert, and Power to Delete key. See the photos below.
And notice the last screen – out of the box bloatware – TeamViewer, WPS Office, Dropbox, Evernote, Foxit PDF… and little click-fest (about 30 min.) to uninstall everything. Or install Ubuntu if you prefer more control of your laptop.
Just got my hand on new cheap Toshiba Satellite Laptop — model L50-B-1DZ white with the following specs: Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DZ White, 15.6″, Pentium N3530 2.16GHz, 4GB RAM, 750GB HDD, Windows 8.1, 15.6″ LED display, Intel HD graphics with resolution 1366×768 pixels, very light – only 2.20 kg. Everything looks very nice, multi-touch mouse pad is also cool, but mouse buttons are somewhat uncomfortable and hard to press. Also, very light… And the price – 380 EUR (466 USD).
Below are photos form Lenovo ThinkPad E520 laptop unboxing. Bought and configured for friend. Very nice configuration – dual core, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD @ 7200 RPM, LED Anti Glare, very cheap and very good-looking PC.
