Dell PowerEdge R330 unboxing photos

Just got hands on cheap, but brand new Dell PowerEdge R330 with SAS 300GB 10K HDDs and redundant power supply. Photos below.

P.S. Dell Inc recently started to cripple low end RAID cards. In our case PERC H330 Integrated Raid controller comes without battery, thus it is not possible to enable write-back caching policy.

Dell Storage Server NX3230 photos

Recently I had hands on brand new Dell Server – Storage NX3230. It is dedicated network-attached storage (NAS) solution from Dell that runs Windows Storage Server 2012. Interesting thing is, that it has two additional SAS 300GB 10K HDD drives located at the back. These are additional drives, connected in mirror RAID, used exclusively by Windows OS, and with reading speed of about 200 MB/s.

Also, it is worth to note, that Dell have updated/improved its PERC raid controller (PERC mini in this case). And in our test setup with 4 drives and 1 hot-spare in RAID 10, it reads 400 MB/s. Megabytes, not Megabits!
